Harden's says

With just six tables, this tiny fine dining restaurant (in the space that used to be Marianne's, RIP) opened up quietly in April 2019, than had critics rushing to visit. Chef Richard Wilkins previously had his own place in Buckhurst Hill in Essex, and has also worked at The Waterside Inn and Pétrus.

“Originally came here at the recommendation of a Michelin star chef – now it’s our default treat”. Richard Wilkins continues to win high ratings all round in reports on his Notting Hill 14-seater, praised for “generous portions of superb food” (with luxurious ingredients such as wagyu beef often a feature of the menu).

Less feedback than we’d like on this tiny, 14-seat venture on the fringes of Notting Hill, perhaps reflecting its small size and the disrupted nature of the last year. Such as we have, though, is uniformly highly complimentary about its ambitious cuisine from chef-patron Richard Wilkins with luxury ingredients such as Wagyu beef and truffle typical features of a menu. Service led by front-of-house Matt Hough also gets a thumbs-up. Heavyweight wine list, too, reflecting its gastronomic aims – it starts inexpensively, but go for the top vintages and you could spend over £1,000!

(see note) “So glad to have 104 back on the map”, say fans of this tiny 14-seater on the fringe of Notting Hill – formerly Marianne’s (RIP) and now re-launched without fanfare by chef Richard Wilkins and front-of-house Matt Hough: the former of whom had worked here with Marianne Lumb before she moved onto pastures new. Early feedback (in 2019) on this “very pretty room” (“romantic”, but “be prepared to overhear everyone else’s conversation”) did include the odd caveat (“excellent quality overall, but some dishes seemed overly simple; and some of the accompanying sauces had gone wrong”). For the most part, however, the picture was of rave reviews for “stunning and very high quality dishes at a reasonable price for such great produce”. (Note - The quotes in this piece are from our last survey which ran in 2019. Due to the pandemic we do not have more recent information to rely on, but we believe the overall picture painted by the review is accurate).

For 32 years we've been curating reviews of the UK's most notable restaurant. In a typical year, diners submit over 50,000 reviews to create the most authoritative restaurant guide in the UK. Each year, the guide is re-written from scratch based on this survey (although for the 2021 edition, reviews are little changed from 2020 as no survey could run for that year).

"The small number of tables makes dining a very personal affair, and the food a delightful and gentle journey The size of a chef’s table but without the preciousness. Unique!"
