Raymond Blanc’s “reliable” local brasserie has shown good longevity and, according to fans, “manages to hold off much of the competition In busy Jericho, thanks to its varied menu”, “excellent Sunday lunch” and “good wine list”. Sceptics, though, are disappointed by “food that’s OK but below what I had expected” for a location that sparked the national brand, and which was, back in the day, the warm-up act for what’s now Le Manoir aux Quat’ Saisons.

Raymond Blanc’s 25-year-old brasserie has been spun out into a national chain, and provides “a pleasant dining experience in the villagey vibe of Jericho”… so long as you don’t expect anything approaching the elevated cuisine found at his nearby Manoir aux Quat’Saisons.

The brasserie that Raymond Blanc originally used as the template for his national roll-out sits in the attractive Jericho site where Blanc made his name before scaling up to the magnificent Manoir aux Quat’ Saisons. The food is generally rated as “reliable”, but there are enough concerns (“bit of a ‘chain’ feel”, “trying too hard”, “slightly glum”) to preclude an enthusiastic recommendation.

For 32 years we've been curating reviews of the UK's most notable restaurant. In a typical year, diners submit over 50,000 reviews to create the most authoritative restaurant guide in the UK. Each year, the guide is re-written from scratch based on this survey (although for the 2021 edition, reviews are little changed from 2020 as no survey could run for that year).
