“As Gordon Ramsay chain restaurants go, the food is dependable enough” at this generously spaced modern brasserie, in a big mall next to St Paul’s (but even those who agree it’s “absolutely fine” may also consider it “very poor value”). “Despite being in EC4, the restaurant has a decent vibe”, and it’s tipped both for a business lunch and its “generous Sunday lunch”.

If it were not for Gordon Ramsay’s involvement, we would likely ignore this big warehousey venue, in a large mall next to St Paul’s. If you work in one of the local money factories and are fairly cost-insensitive, its interior is agreeable and it suits less formal business entertaining (or even a family meal); but as ever, it achieves very limited and mixed feedback overall. Still, the GR Holdings crew must think the idea’s got legs, as they have created a sub-brand – Bread Street Café – first opening Ealing in late 2021 and aimed at relaxed, all-day family dining.

This “warehouse-style” outfit from Gordon Ramsay near St Paul’s provides a handy amenity for business-lunchers and, out of business hours, has a “great atmosphere for families and groups”. But while it’s generally decent, especially for brunch, it’s rather “overpriced for what it offers” and apt to be “let down by average cooking and service”.

For 32 years we've been curating reviews of the UK's most notable restaurant. In a typical year, diners submit over 50,000 reviews to create the most authoritative restaurant guide in the UK. Each year, the guide is re-written from scratch based on this survey (although for the 2021 edition, reviews are little changed from 2020 as no survey could run for that year).
