Harden's says
Brothers Ed and Ollie Templeton's ever-changing restaurant has moved from the original Blandford Street home, and added a wine bar and 10-seat 'residency kitchen' which might see international chefs popping up or be used as an incubator for new concepts.
Harden's survey result
Summary
Relocated from Marylebone to this new Fitzrovia site, sprawling across three knocked-together Georgian townhouses: “a great place where an amazing array of constantly changing residencies by superstar chefs from all corners of the globe, make it a unique place to be entertained”, and one that’s typically “good value” too. On the downside, the “acoustics of the new venue are underwhelming” for some reporters. (The rating is for the visiting chef programme – no-one really mentions their new permanent in-situ wine bar operation).
Summary
“Innovative guest chefs from around the world”, but also with gigs from local stars (“went solo on James Knappett night – how can they provide that level of cooking for £95, when he’s normally £250+!”) have won a major reputation for Ed and Ollie Templeton’s one-of-a-kind revolving-residency venue. In August 2021, they announced they are on the move, closing their Marylebone site and taking over three Georgian townhouses on Fitzrovia’s Charlotte Street. The expansive site will also house Carousel’s own wine bar (open throughout the day), as well as a ten-seater incubator for new concepts and longer-term residencies, and separate spaces dedicated to private dining, workshops and events.
Summary
“A brilliant idea that never disappoints” – this Marylebone venue hosts “a different guest chef every week”, flying in “some of the most exciting cooks in the world, who deliver an astonishing range of food”. Lunch from the crack in-house team is also “terrific and great value”, comprising “small plates full of original flavours”.

For 32 years we've been curating reviews of the UK's most notable restaurant. In a typical year, diners submit over 50,000 reviews to create the most authoritative restaurant guide in the UK. Each year, the guide is re-written from scratch based on this survey (although for the 2021 edition, reviews are little changed from 2020 as no survey could run for that year).
