“Delicious food from the Levant, served with charm” has earned an enthusiastic following for Barry and Patricia Hilton’s “interesting Middle Eastern” bistros: particularly the original, tucked away in South Kensington’s ‘Little France’ in a quirky modernised unit with a Scandi-meets-North-Africa vibe. A thumbs-up too for its newer, year-old Queensway branch.

“Innovative and delicious Lebanese/Middle-Eastern cooking” has firmly established Barry and Patricia Hilton’s nattily decorated modern bistro in the ‘Petit France’ enclave close to South Kensington’s museums. “It’s great to see them back in action – they’ve tweaked the menu and the food is even more delicious”. “Fabulous service, too”. The venture started out with a series of pop-ups, and a second bistro that started off in Soho transferred to Queensway in summer 2021.

“Brilliant”, “fresh” and “unusual” Levantine flavours; “cheerful and helpful staff”; and “sunnily charming decoration” ensure these “above-average”, modern Middle Eastern bistros are “invariably lively and bustling”. The SW7 branch is a well-known fixture of the ‘Petit France’ enclave of South Kensington, while its two-year-old spin-off has made a good start establishing itself at the top end of Soho – “you can understand the popularity when food of such a high standard is produced at such very reasonable prices”.

For 32 years we've been curating reviews of the UK's most notable restaurant. In a typical year, diners submit over 50,000 reviews to create the most authoritative restaurant guide in the UK. Each year, the guide is re-written from scratch based on this survey (although for the 2021 edition, reviews are little changed from 2020 as no survey could run for that year).

"Interesting and tasty food sort of evolved Eastern Mediterranean. Short and eclectic wines. Efficient service. Noisy, difficult to converse. "
