Owner's description

As a child, my grandmother used to prepare delicious Tartines in her kitchen for me. Having lived in London over the past 5 years, I became homesick and those memories came fluttering back. After a while, it became clear to me that I had to put all my effort and hard work into my dream of recreating my childhood. So, here I am Chez Antoinette serving delicious authentic dishes. Having acquired personally every piece of antique furniture and crockery from all over the country it now sits in Chez Antoinette, providing the atmosphere of my childhood.

Coming from Lyon, the French food capital, I have selected the best quality seasonal products working with French and local suppliers, keeping the food simple but enjoyable for every taste. Tartines are slices of toasted organic bread topped with a variety of ingredients, we have created a menu around our most famous products such as the rillettes or the Brie de Meaux. To complement our Tartines, our Chef’s prepare daily specials of homemade soup and appetizing pastries

Looking forward welcome you there.

“Invitingly tucked away off Victoria Street”, “it feels like stepping into Paris” at this “good little bistro”, where “helpful staff” deliver “a short but interesting” all-day menu of “simple but delicious fare” at “good value prices” (“excellent saucisson, and good bavette steak, duck leg… a very good tarte Tatin and reasonably priced house wine!”). Only fleeting mentions for the branch cutely located in the tourist hell of Covent Garden on the lower ground level of the market itself, but all good.

For 32 years we've been curating reviews of the UK's most notable restaurant. In a typical year, diners submit over 50,000 reviews to create the most authoritative restaurant guide in the UK. Each year, the guide is re-written from scratch based on this survey (although for the 2021 edition, reviews are little changed from 2020 as no survey could run for that year).
