Harden's says
Tim Brice, aka ‘Captain Chilli’, bravely launched London’s first dedicated Cincinnati-style chilli restaurant in February 2021. It occupies the small (40 seats) former Shoreditch premises of Rök and Emile (RIP). Part of the vogue for Americana-driven menus, Tim has developed a chilli-filled brioche ‘bombshell’ for his new venture. Each batch is three days in the making and – the coup de grâce – you inject your Chilibomb with a syringe of chilli-infused oil to get the level of heat that you desire.
Harden's survey result
Summary
“US-style dive bar” in Shoreditch “serving what may well be the finest bar-meal/hangover-cure in London – beef chili in a hollowed-out brioche bun, topped with cheese and your choice of chili sauce in varying levels of insanity”. Tim Brice, aka ‘Captain Chili’, took over the former site of Rok (RIP) to open his little corner of Americana in February 2021. Apparently the Cincinatti chilibomb was developed by Greek immigrants who adapted Tex-Mex chili con carne in the 1920s.

No survey feedback as yet, but The Telegraph’s William Sitwell declared it: “nuts, but if you feel the need for a mad, crazy time and enjoy the catharsis of blowing your head off, your table awaits”.
For 32 years we've been curating reviews of the UK's most notable restaurant. In a typical year, diners submit over 50,000 reviews to create the most authoritative restaurant guide in the UK. Each year, the guide is re-written from scratch based on this survey (although for the 2021 edition, reviews are little changed from 2020 as no survey could run for that year).
