Small Belsize Park newcomer from chef Jake Finn, whose 16 seats inside are matched by a similar number outside. Dishes are cooked on a Josper grill, with influences from lots of sunny countries all over the world (including Peru, Japan, Italy, France and Greece). Options will include seared tuna and sharing dishes for two such as whole sea bream. Finn's CV includes La Petite Maison, Coya and The Ritz.
Harden's survey result
Summary
This “tiny” Belsize Park two-year-old from chef Jake Finn (ex-La Petite Maison and The Ritz) is a “buzzy neighbourhood spot”, where most of the food has been ‘kissed by flames’ on the Josper grill. But while it’s undoubtedly a boon “in an area of drought for decent restaurants”, opinions divide on its performance: to fans it provides an “excellently judged, seasonally changing menu”; to sceptics, it’s “somewhat underwhelming and a bit expensive”.
Summary
“A tiny new kid on the block” – this Belsize Park newcomer from chef Jake Finn has 16 seats inside matched by a similar number outside. “All the food is cooked over wood flames” on a Josper grill, with influences from lots of sunny countries all over the world (including Peru, Japan, Italy, France and Greece). Not all locals are dazzled (“not as hot as reported”), but most say results are “fabulous” – “everything tastes good and shares well, delicious lamb, beef, bream, and lots of delicious veggie plates”.
For 32 years we've been curating reviews of the UK's most notable restaurant. In a typical year, diners submit over 50,000 reviews to create the most authoritative restaurant guide in the UK. Each year, the guide is re-written from scratch based on this survey (although for the 2021 edition, reviews are little changed from 2020 as no survey could run for that year).

Cinder Restaurant Diner Reviews
"Cinder is a cosy restaurant with interesting food cooked with fire. The dishes are wonderful combinations, simply done. It is not inexpensive, but great value for money given the quality of the ingredients and the cleverness of the cuisine. The whole seabream, fennel, radish & fresh herbs is a standout dish for those which is cooked to perfection – both charred and succulent. The service is friendly. It is a superb local."
