Richard Corrigan’s Mayfair HQ, just off Park Lane, aims to ‘champion all game that is coastal and wild, furred and feathered’ and the result is a selection of fairly traditional British dishes, infused “with the occasional Irish flavour” (“top-quality venison” and “perfectly cooked fish” inspired particular mention this year). In style, it’s quite a “formal” space, although “service is efficient and not too stuffy for the type of establishment” (and “if the great man himself makes an appearance, prepare to be entertained!”). One much-repeated complaint this year, though: it’s becoming “heart-stoppingly expensive”.

“Excellent cooking with top-quality ingredients” inspires numerous fans of Irish celeb chef Richard Corrigan’s Mayfair HQ, just off Park Lane, whose guiding principle is that of a modernised hunting lodge, focused on “traditional” British and Irish cuisine, including beef from the carving trolley. Naturally it doesn’t come cheap, but the experience was consistently highly rated this year.

“Classic and club-like (without being oppressive)” – Richard Corrigan’s spacious Mayfair HQ, just off Park Lane, offers a traditionally luxurious experience, focused on “unfussy”, top-quality British cuisine (from head chef, Aidan McGee). Its ratings looked less secure this year, though, with mounting concerns about its vertiginous pricing – to fans “even if it’s expensive, the quality is there”, but to foes it now seems “extremely overpriced” to an extent some feel is “ludicrous”. Top Tip – “superb value set lunch”.

For 32 years we've been curating reviews of the UK's most notable restaurant. In a typical year, diners submit over 50,000 reviews to create the most authoritative restaurant guide in the UK. Each year, the guide is re-written from scratch based on this survey (although for the 2021 edition, reviews are little changed from 2020 as no survey could run for that year).

Have you eaten at Corrigan’s Mayfair?

Owner's description

Corrigan’s Mayfair is home to acclaimed celebrity Irish chef, Richard Corrigan. He opened Corrigan’s Mayfair in 2008.

Corrigan’s Mayfair redefines the concept of quintessential British and Irish cuisine. Fusing seasonal produce with Richard’s unmistakable flair. The menus are inspired by Richard’s humble, rural upbringing- combining 21st century luxury and style with down-to-earth, home-inspired cooking that is reflective of the seasons, including - game certainly, but also foraged vegetables and fruits, and sustainable fish. Why? We want to tell a story, work with natural products which, ultimately are resources. We want to work with the best and that means responsible management. Eating today and thinking about tomorrow.
