Owner's description
Coya Restaurant and Pisco Bar bring the spirit of Latin America to the heart of London.
With a modern Peruvian restaurant at the centre of Coya's culture, chefs will entertain as food is prepared in one of three open kitchens. The menu at Coya keeps traditional elements of Peruvian cooking alive whilst creating a contemporary cuisine for a modern London clientele.
Sitting adjacent to the main dining room, Pisco Bar specialises in bespoke pisco infusions unique to Coya.

Summary
Resident DJs are intrinsic to the vibey style of Arjun Waney’s “very opulent” Peruvians, which since their launch ten years ago now feature Paris, Monaco and Mykonos on their list of locations alongside those in Mayfair and near the Bank of England. The “exciting” Latino cuisine is “beautifully presented” and contributes to an “amazing overall experience”. The crowd is “a bit flash” for some tastes, but you can always “ignore the bankers and the Gulf trust fund babies and focus on the plate”.
Summary
“Cool music adds to the brilliant vibe for a fun night out” at this “romantic” Peruvian duo in Mayfair and near the Bank of England. The cuisine (charcoal-grilled meat and seafood, plus tacos and Nikkei sashimi) is well-rated, as is the “comprehensive and interesting world-wide wine list”, although some diners find their enthusiasm dampened by “silly prices”. The concept, developed by Anglo-Indian chef Sanjay Dwivedi, has expanded in recent years to Paris, Monaco, Mykonos and moneyed hot-spots in the Middle East.
Summary
“A real culinary tour of the best of Peru, with mouthwatering ceviche, smoky grilled meats and show-stopping desserts” (“we were blown away by the freshness and amazing flavour combinations”), “… all washed down with a pisco sour or two”, helped inspire rave reviews in the last survey for this Latino duo – an “impressive-looking subterranean bar/restaurant in Mayfair”, and a similarly “buzzy and relaxed” set-up in the City, tucked away behind the Bank of England. “It’s best if someone else is paying” of course, but past flak about whopping prices was absent this year.

For 32 years we've been curating reviews of the UK's most notable restaurant. In a typical year, diners submit over 50,000 reviews to create the most authoritative restaurant guide in the UK. Each year, the guide is re-written from scratch based on this survey (although for the 2021 edition, reviews are little changed from 2020 as no survey could run for that year).
