“Top tapas” wins fans for this small Basque outfit – along with nearby Lurra, one of a pair inspired by the pintxo bars of San Sebastian (Donostia in Basque) under the same ownership near Marble Arch. “The room is lovely, at the front by the bar or in the window”, although it can be “a bit noisy”.

This Basque tapas bar near Marble Arch serves “imaginative dishes” including “very tasty pintxos, with some especially good vegetarian options”, backed up by a notably “excellent selection of wines”. Any negatives are marginal: “tables are a bit small for many tapas”, and “it’s hard to pace a meal as food can all arrive at once”. Named after the Basque for San Sebastian, its sibling Lurra is nearby.

For 32 years we've been curating reviews of the UK's most notable restaurant. In a typical year, diners submit over 50,000 reviews to create the most authoritative restaurant guide in the UK. Each year, the guide is re-written from scratch based on this survey (although for the 2021 edition, reviews are little changed from 2020 as no survey could run for that year).
