Harden's survey result
Summary
Stunning 40th-floor views over London and 24/7 opening have drawn busy crowds to this perch at the top of the City’s Heron Tower for 10 years now, and the signature “tasty duck and egg waffle” and other faux-rustic dishes go down well enough alongside a cocktail or two.
Summary
“You go for the lovely views” from the 40th floor of the City’s Heron Tower when you visit this “loud and crowded” hang-out; and also for the fact that you can eat at any hour due to its 24/7 service. Opinions on the cooking are up-and-down, however, although the “the signature duck & waffle is decent enough and probably the best value”, and “the cocktails are good”. One hazard: “at least half the diners devote most of their attention to taking photos for their Instagram account”.
Summary
“At midnight, perched high above London in this flashy 40th-floor restaurant, it’s thrilling watching the lights of the traffic; and the signature duck & waffle dish with maple syrup was like none we have tasted before” – that’s the fanboy view on this luxury diner at the top of the City’s Heron Tower, and the fact that it’s open 24/7 makes it a big brunch destination. Sceptical diners were more in evidence this year, though, criticising the “stodgy and unbalanced” menu, or “food that’s average, but a bill that’s WAY above average”: “once you take away the hype, that you can eat in the middle of the night and it’s up a skyscraper, it’s actually nothing special”. “Getting a reservation can be difficult, though: book way ahead and eat at a strange hour!”

For 32 years we've been curating reviews of the UK's most notable restaurant. In a typical year, diners submit over 50,000 reviews to create the most authoritative restaurant guide in the UK. Each year, the guide is re-written from scratch based on this survey (although for the 2021 edition, reviews are little changed from 2020 as no survey could run for that year).
