Summary
“Stunningly located on the 28th floor of the Park Lane Hilton” – the Galvin Bros have run this well-known eyrie since 2006. Its “chief selling point is the panorama of London” of course, and a fair judgement currently is that: “the cooking is sound, well-executed and nicely presented, rather than stellar; but the view over Hyde Park and Buckingham Palace Gardens justify the steep prices and it’s great place for a special occasion”. Top Top – “the bar is worth a visit too, with an evening setting sun providing wonderful lighting”, and you can take in the skyline there just for the price of a cocktail.
Summary
It’s hard not to be wowed by the “wonderful vistas” over Hyde Park and Buckingham Palace at this “beautiful” 28th-floor perch. Under the Galvin Bros’ reign here (since 2006), it has generally avoided the culinary complacency typical of rooms with a view, but its cuisine did take some flak this year for “eye-watering prices” and “a loss of sparkle”. But for “a special romantic celebratory treat” or a “great venue for a business meet-up” it still has much to recommend it. Chef Marc Hardiman is still relatively new to the stoves here (having been appointed in mid 2020).
Summary
“Breathtaking panoramic views over central London” make this “refined”, 28th-floor eyrie a natural place for a date or celebration – or “to impress out-of-towners” – and “sipping a cocktail whilst looking at our great city is a special experience” (try to secure a window table when you book). Standards by-and-large avoid the complacency typical of rooms with a view: service is “professional” and most diners feel the cooking is “wonderful and beautifully presented”. Naturally the experience is fully priced but… Top Tip – “set lunch is excellent value”.

For 32 years we've been curating reviews of the UK's most notable restaurant. In a typical year, diners submit over 50,000 reviews to create the most authoritative restaurant guide in the UK. Each year, the guide is re-written from scratch based on this survey (although for the 2021 edition, reviews are little changed from 2020 as no survey could run for that year).

"Food was good, but slightly boring. Service was friendly, but lacked a special touch and finesse. Atmosphere is great with live music on Friday evenings (though a bit loud). View over London and the park was beautiful."
