Summary
“A quiet haven tucked away near Piccadilly Circus” – in summer, the outside courtyard is so peaceful it’s hard to believe just how central you are. “A lovely afternoon tea at sensible prices” is the top culinary attraction here. At other times, the “stylish” setting is “conducive to a relaxed meal” but its “bistro-style fare” is a case of “nothing to criticise, but with vastly better places in easy reach”.
Summary
“What a delightful spot”, just off Piccadilly Circus (“my favourite place at the moment, both inside and in the courtyard, love the overall vibe”). The food is “simple but well cooked” and comes at a “fair price”, making it “great for pre-theatre” and “an absolute bargain for lunch”, while the classic hotel afternoon tea is served with some style and “always reliable”.
Summary
Sitting in the cute courtyard of this “immaculately kept” newish hotel, you would never dream you were a two-minute stroll from Piccadilly Circus, and – in colder weather – its “quirky modern/traditional conservatory” is also a lovely destination. In keeping with other Firmdale hotels, the food avoids fireworks, but they have an “excellent-value set lunch and pre-theatre menu”, and some would argue it’s “the best place in town for afternoon tea – served on quirky china with hand-stitched white table linen and not at all rushed”.

For 32 years we've been curating reviews of the UK's most notable restaurant. In a typical year, diners submit over 50,000 reviews to create the most authoritative restaurant guide in the UK. Each year, the guide is re-written from scratch based on this survey (although for the 2021 edition, reviews are little changed from 2020 as no survey could run for that year).

Ham Yard Restaurant, Ham Yard Hotel Restaurant Diner Reviews
"Vibrant post work setting with clusters of patrons around the various bar areas creating a buzzy atmosphere. Spacious high ceiling dining room with themed decor, loved the stitched dividers separating the dining tables. Staff were friendly and provided an efficient service. The set menu with glass of fizz suited pre-theatre dining very well. Sharing plate, starters and mains were just right in portion size. Dessert a tad of a let down but espresso extremely good value. Matching crockery had a special charm, had to flip over a plate to find the designer. Even the powder room was on keeping with the level of decor! "
