“To-die-for steaks” can be a surprise find in the restaurant overlooking the floor of London’s biggest casino, on Leicester Square. It’s a quirky space, in the circle of the former Hippodrome Theatre, and its USDA-imported meat and superior wines are something of a passion project for casino owner, Simon Thomas.

“My go-to comfort venue” – it’s worth knowing about this surprisingly good steak restaurant overlooking the floor of London’s biggest casino, on Leicester Square. It serves a wide range of dishes, but undoubtedly the biggest culinary draw is the selection of USDA steaks, which is something of a point of pride for casino owner Simon Thomas (as is the superior wine selection). It’s all super-handy and “very reasonably priced”.

“Exceptional value set deals” (particularly at lunch and pre-theatre) provide reason to discover this unusually situated grill, in the former dress circle of the converted theatre that nowadays houses the UK’s largest casino (right by Leicester Square tube) and looks down on the gambling tables below. Casino owner Simon Thomas prides himself on the quality of the steaks and wines on offer, and it shows.

For 32 years we've been curating reviews of the UK's most notable restaurant. In a typical year, diners submit over 50,000 reviews to create the most authoritative restaurant guide in the UK. Each year, the guide is re-written from scratch based on this survey (although for the 2021 edition, reviews are little changed from 2020 as no survey could run for that year).
