A plush curry house in posh West Didsbury that’s both ‘Indian’ and ‘Unique’ (geddit?). It only attracted limited feedback this year but such as we have continues to declare it as outstanding all-round.

A “buzzy West Didsbury place, recommended by the S. Manchester Indian community” (and no stranger to the British Curry Awards); their “amazing starters” – street food-style, or from the grill – are the prelude to what fans inevitably call “The. Best. Indian. Ever”.

An “exquisite menu” of “subtle and refined” Indian dishes goes down well at this “buzzy” modern outfit in West Didsbury. But perhaps they should “ditch the smoke-filled cloche: good theatre, but not sure what it did for flavour!”

For 32 years we've been curating reviews of the UK's most notable restaurant. In a typical year, diners submit over 50,000 reviews to create the most authoritative restaurant guide in the UK. Each year, the guide is re-written from scratch based on this survey (although for the 2021 edition, reviews are little changed from 2020 as no survey could run for that year).

Owner's description

Indique is owned by passionate Indian couple who want to bring back the real authentic taste of Indian food to Manchester. In last few decades, Indian food has hardly seen any innovation in the UK. 'Indique' is an attempt to re-define Indian cuisine and serve unique flavours from the streets of India.

More serious foodies need to take note that this beautiful city is now host to what is its newest and arguably the finest upmarket Indian restaurant, INDIQUE. Located within vicinity of West Didsbury, Indique is far cry from the typical high street Indian restaurant. Our rustic yet elegant interiors will take you to the streets of Rajasthan (India), which is famous for its royal heritage and hospitality. An array of quality wines, cocktails and other drinks are served from an intimate bar area.

A good quality authentic Indian restaurant ...
Reviewed 4 months, 1 day ago

"A good quality authentic Indian restaurant with lovely selection of snacky, less frequently found, starters that work well to share. The more traditional dishes were more successful flavour blends than their attempts at modernising ingredients/recipes."
