“Distinctive and exciting” flavours of Burma (“an under-represented cuisine in London”) have now made their way from a stall near London Bridge, via a Hackney railway arch and a Shoreditch restaurant (still running) to the West End, in Covent Garden’s newish ‘The Yards’ development, thanks to founders Dan Anton and Burmese chef Zaw Mahesh. Named after a salad of pickled tea leaves, Lahpet is “lively and noisy”, and its food is “thrilling”. Top Tip – “the luminescent ginger salad… so zingy and flavourful!”

Slated for late 2021, they have announced a new Covent Garden sibling will open this year – a 2,500 sq ft unit in the flashy new ‘The Yards’ development (near the recently relaunched Dishoom).
