“What a wonderful way to spend an afternoon!” – dining on “excellent seafood” aboard a barge, either cruising along the Regent’s Canal on the Prince Regent, or static but floating on the Grand Duchess, docked by Paddington station. It’s a “good-quality fish experience”, with supplies fresh from Cornwall and “very amiable service”.

For 32 years we've been curating reviews of the UK's most notable restaurant. In a typical year, diners submit over 50,000 reviews to create the most authoritative restaurant guide in the UK. Each year, the guide is re-written from scratch based on this survey (although for the 2021 edition, reviews are little changed from 2020 as no survey could run for that year).

Have you eaten at London Shell Co.?

Owner's description

London Shell Co. combines Britain's finest fish and shellfish with a journey through the heart of North London; along the historic Regent's Canal! It is the perfect way to celebrate or to escape and watch the world go by through the window.

Siblings Harry and Leah Lobek established the company in October 2015 and are delighted to have contributed to a beautiful and secret part of London. Their unique dining experience takes you past iconic landmarks, like London Zoo and Regents Park, and reveals hidden gems, such as the Maida Hill Tunnel. Stuart Kilpatrick heads up the London Shell Co. galley, bringing a unique take to British and European classics. Sourcing the finest ingredients from around the UK, Stuart and his team create simple yet considered set menus of fish and seafood, that change with the seasons.

There is a carefully curated wine list on board too, predominantly supporting small growers and winemakers. This again changes regularly, always to complement the menu and the season. The list is a mix of old world and new world wines, but likes to celebrate some under appreicated regions.
