Summary
The “busy and thriving original venue” in Ancoats is still a byword for “atmospheric, authentic Neapolitan pizza” – “the best ever eaten”, fans insist – as the template it established spreads around the country, with 14 spin-off branches to date. Jim Morgan & Kati Wilson launched the original in 2015, and two years later Mission Mars, the operator of Albert’s Schloss, took up the challenge of funding the national rollout.
Summary
A “lively place” serving “pizzas a real cut above those usually served in the UK”, this Ancoats joint inspires acclamation from its large fanclub, who insist it’s “the best pizzeria bar none”. “Good-value desserts and Aperol spritz are a bonus”, and “it’s in a lovely spot so you can grab a drink in one of the many excellent pubs and bars within walking distance before your meal. You can now book but they’ll text you if you have to wait for a walk-in”. Founded by Jim Morgan & Kate Wilson in 2015, it now has eight branches, from Liverpool via Leeds and Birmingham to Soho in London.
Summary
“Taking pizza in the North West up a notch” – this “buzzing” local superstar is “located off a lovely square in trendy Ancoats” and has become a Mancunian foodie legend, thanks to its “simple-but-delicious Neapolitan pizzas”: “definitely the best in town, with the dough made and stretched on site, and you can taste how fresh all of their ingredients are”. “Be prepared to wait by grabbing a drink in one of the nearby bars and they will text you when your table is ready”. There’s also a newer, more central, branch on Peter Street.

For 32 years we've been curating reviews of the UK's most notable restaurant. In a typical year, diners submit over 50,000 reviews to create the most authoritative restaurant guide in the UK. Each year, the guide is re-written from scratch based on this survey (although for the 2021 edition, reviews are little changed from 2020 as no survey could run for that year).
