“A bit out of the way, on Islington’s generally unlovely Essex Road”, this “small neighbourhood spot” is worth discovering. “The open kitchen gives it a lovely and buzzy vibe”, as well as providing “interesting” and “good value” modern European cooking. “It’s open for Sunday lunch, but doesn’t serve the ubiquitous roast.”

For 32 years we've been curating reviews of the UK's most notable restaurant. In a typical year, diners submit over 50,000 reviews to create the most authoritative restaurant guide in the UK. Each year, the guide is re-written from scratch based on this survey (although for the 2021 edition, reviews are little changed from 2020 as no survey could run for that year).

"A little off the beaten track, but for the locals it is a cracking neighbourhood restaurant. Consistently good - I've never had a bad dish there."

"Nice buzzy restaurant in unpromising road. Starters excellent. Main courses poor to awful. Couldn't care less service. Look carefully at the bill. I didn't and was overcharged."
