“Low-key but capable of great cooking” – Jesse Dunford Wood’s “friendly neighbourhood spot” does sterling service for Holland Park, serving a “short but well-curated menu” for lunch and dinner, seven days a week, alongside an “awesome wine list”, in an “understated setting that makes clear that the food is the main attraction”. With just 36 seats, it can get a little loud with larger groups.

This “smart neighbourhood restaurant” in Holland Park is “great value for some quite elevated cooking”, with menus that change daily. It’s “very small” (36 seats), “very friendly”, and has a “super wine list”. It sees itself as a ‘smarter, smaller and more mature relative of Parlour’, the highly rated gastropub in Kensal Green. Top Tip: “well-priced lunch menu”.

“Understated Holland Park local” worth discovering on account of its “consistently delicious and always changing British food” – an “inventive menu providing enough diversity to make it a place to return to on a regular basis”. It’s “cosy” too, with “charming, quirky service” and an “excellent, interesting and different wine list”; in short, a “perfect neighbourhood bistro”.

For 32 years we've been curating reviews of the UK's most notable restaurant. In a typical year, diners submit over 50,000 reviews to create the most authoritative restaurant guide in the UK. Each year, the guide is re-written from scratch based on this survey (although for the 2021 edition, reviews are little changed from 2020 as no survey could run for that year).

"I love Harden's and have bought the book every year since 2000. I have never felt that I needed to add a review for fellow diners following today's experience. The restaurant was not full yet we could not get the attention of either of the two staff to order a second bottle of wine, when we did ask we were told that we were rude! I was told it because they have only two people working! Is that my problem when I was asked to pay 316.69 Pounds which included a sevice fee of 35.19 pounds! I asked to have a kind word with the Manager which happened to be one of the two staff. I was chastised! So, what can we say about the service, terrible! The food OMG, the pork terrine was straight out of the waitrose packet and the "Short Horn Bouef Bouguingon" was dry pieces of beef floating in a dark sauce without any flavour or presentation. The celeralic soup was cold and tasteless. A group of 8 people from Sydney, London, Athens and Rome where thoroughly disappointed and felt we had been fleeced. DO NOT GO HERE and waste your hard earned money."
