Harden's says

Replacing the popular Birch, as of October 2020, is this restaurant that doubles as a deli (future-proofing at its best) from Pegs Quinn, formerly head chef at Bianchis, and with stints at Pasta Ripiena and The River Cafe under his belt.

“This is how you treat great produce with care and respect and create beautiful things!” – so say fans of Mary Glynn and Pegs Quinn’s Italian-influenced two-year-old in Southville, whose “excellent” cuisine is informed by Pegs’s 18-year stint at the Hammersmith’s famous River Café. “Service is good and the place is lively and noisy (but some softening of the acoustics might help)”.

Replacing the popular Birch (RIP), this “very friendly local eatery” is an October 2020 newcomer that started life as a deli and then morphed into a restaurant with blackboard menu. It’s the work of Pegs Quinn, formerly head chef at Bianchis, and with stints at Pasta Ripiena and London’s famous River Café under his belt. National press critics Tom Parker Bowles and Jay Rayner both have given it rave reviews, comparing it favourably to the famous Thames-side Italian. Our feedback is scarcely less enthusiastic: “as well as being a top place to eat, they also do the best takeaway pizzas for miles around!”

For 32 years we've been curating reviews of the UK's most notable restaurant. In a typical year, diners submit over 50,000 reviews to create the most authoritative restaurant guide in the UK. Each year, the guide is re-written from scratch based on this survey (although for the 2021 edition, reviews are little changed from 2020 as no survey could run for that year).

"Like being a guest in someone's home. So friendly and welcoming. The room is nothing to speak of but that doesn't matter as it is about the conviviality and the awesome cooking. Even if you don't like the look of it on the menu it is guaranteed to make you go 'wow I never expected it to taste like that!""
