Named after the sushi master’s mother, it offers a taste of his artful creations at much more approachable prices, and “a wonderful and delicious take on traditional Japanese food”. In September 2022, it reopens having expanded (from 45 to 60 covers) and with a new chef: Christian Onia.

Morphed quickly into a click-and-collect operation, it’s since returned to being the upmarket neighbourhood perch that was originally intended. On early reports, even those who find it “rather expensive” say it’s “very good” and others would go further – “sublime!”
