Endo Kazutoshi’s “cute little local” on the edge of Notting Hill – the more casual spin-off from White City’s exceptional Endo at Rotunda – “punches above its weight”. Named after the sushi master’s mother, it offers a taste of his artful creations at much more approachable prices, and “a wonderful and delicious take on traditional Japanese food”. In September 2022, it reopens having expanded (from 45 to 60 covers) and with a new chef: Christian Onia.

On the Notting Hill fringe site that was Andina Picanteria (RIP), Endo Kazutoshi – the man behind White City’s ultra-luxe sushi mecca, Endo at Rotunda – launched this elegant new sushi haunt (named after his mum!) in December 2020, before Covid-19 altered his plans. Morphed quickly into a click-and-collect operation, it’s since returned to being the upmarket neighbourhood perch that was originally intended. On early reports, even those who find it “rather expensive” say it’s “very good” and others would go further – “sublime!”

For 32 years we've been curating reviews of the UK's most notable restaurant. In a typical year, diners submit over 50,000 reviews to create the most authoritative restaurant guide in the UK. Each year, the guide is re-written from scratch based on this survey (although for the 2021 edition, reviews are little changed from 2020 as no survey could run for that year).
