Summary
“A step above normal pub grub”: chef David Yorkiston’s kitchen produces a high standard of cooking at this carefully modernised mid-Victorian pub on Crystal Palace’s hip ‘Triangle’ – a “lovely building” with large windows, oodles of outdoor space, and a lively atmosphere. “It’s a shame children under 10 can’t go or we’d be there all the time!”
Summary
“A huge enclosed garden” (where eating under the canopy was a boon during the post-lockdown months) is a feature at this newly revivified Crystal Palace pub, whose gentrified nature is hinted at by the florist in its courtyard. Chef David Yorkston helps it “punch above its weight” foodwise with some “really tasty” dishes that were strongly plugged by Grace Dent in an adulatory May 2021 review. Any negatives? One disastrous visit was reported service-wise (which has echoes in a few online reviews).
For 32 years we've been curating reviews of the UK's most notable restaurant. In a typical year, diners submit over 50,000 reviews to create the most authoritative restaurant guide in the UK. Each year, the guide is re-written from scratch based on this survey (although for the 2021 edition, reviews are little changed from 2020 as no survey could run for that year).
