Summary
Michel Roux Junior has reimagined the British pub as only a French master chef could at this fine hostelry near Oxford Circus – a partnership with the neighbouring Langham Hotel, who carved the pub out of some under-used space. “Simple British dishes are presented as you have never tasted them before” (“shepherd’s pie and Scotch eggs were particularly memorable, but everything was delightful”) and its “great buzzy ambience” helps make it an excellent West End meeting place.
Summary
“The perfect London pub,” say fans of Michel Roux’s “sophisticated” bar with “exceptional food” near Oxford Circus. It’s not really a pub, of course; it’s been converted from part of the historic five-star Langham hotel. But there’s an undeniable buzz around this latest incarnation: “How can you make the humble cheese toastie taste this good?”
Summary
“Setting the standards for a central London bar” – Michel Roux’s three-year-old near Oxford Circus “has found a real niche” as a top West End rendezvous (“almost too successful for its own good” during peak times, when it risks becoming too thronging and loud). “You wouldn’t know that it is part of a hotel” (it’s actually carved out from – and a partnership with – the neighbouring five-star hotel, The Langham) and the unusually “classy” conversion of the space “burnishes the large, pub-style setting”. “Its food is stretching the concept of gastropub food” in terms of ambition, but “definitely worth the money”.

For 32 years we've been curating reviews of the UK's most notable restaurant. In a typical year, diners submit over 50,000 reviews to create the most authoritative restaurant guide in the UK. Each year, the guide is re-written from scratch based on this survey (although for the 2021 edition, reviews are little changed from 2020 as no survey could run for that year).

The Wigmore, The Langham Restaurant Diner Reviews
"Best pie I have eaten in ages"
"Atmosphere and service always good. Felt slightly short changed with the pie - historically it came with mash, cabbage and gravy but today it came just with mash and hence a bit dry. "
"I was expecting more…very corporate feel and not especially relaxed. The food was ok but I had to cobble bits together to make a passable lunch."
"Posh pub nibbles in nice surroundings handily close to the horrors of Oxford Circus. Service attentive. Crab crumpets, lamb pastillas, scotch eggs. All slightly too small to be satisfying. "
