“Great home-made pies (in five flavours) and mash to go with a pint of Young’s bitter – what’s not to like?” about this “traditional pub” just off Regent Street, from the same stable as the Guinea Grill. There’s a newish (est. 2020) upstairs restaurant and terrace which is more what you might expect in Mayfair, white tablecloths and all.

“I could have bathed in the sauce smothering the devilled kidneys”, eulogises one poetic fan of this “sparkling pub with excellent food” in poshest Mayfair. It’s a proper pub, too, with “well-kept beer” and a “great selection of pies”. “A pint of Young’s bitter and a great pie takes some beating – and only a hop from Oxford Circus.” Upstairs, there’s a smarter restaurant.

“Excellent home-made pies” make this “always enjoyable” classic pub in Mayfair “worth a visit”. They’re backed up by a “super selection of ales, craft beers and wine”, a “gin terrace” and a “great pubby atmosphere”“what more could you ask for?”

For 32 years we've been curating reviews of the UK's most notable restaurant. In a typical year, diners submit over 50,000 reviews to create the most authoritative restaurant guide in the UK. Each year, the guide is re-written from scratch based on this survey (although for the 2021 edition, reviews are little changed from 2020 as no survey could run for that year).
