Harden's survey result
Summary
The crowd (especially in the bar) can be “bling personified”, but Rainer Becker and Arjun Waney’s glitzily glam scene, a short walk from Harrods, delivers way more than “a fun cocktail”, serving luxurious Japanese-fusion dishes that are “just heaven”. For fine food with a pulse, this remains “one of the best dining experiences in London”. Top Menu Tips – “outstanding Wagyu tartare, crispy langoustines and seared tuna salads, and melt-in-the-mouth otoro sushi”.
Summary
“Even in these troubled times, it never fails to deliver” – Rainer Becker and Arjun Waney’s “fantastic fusion” scene, a short walk from Harrods, wins impressive support as ever, despite the absence for much of the year of the supercar-driving international crowd for which it’s known (and it “can still be an OTT scene at times”). It helps that the “beautifully presented”, Japanese-inspired cuisine is reliably “fantastic”.
Summary
Arjun Waney and Rainer Becker’s “well-oiled” glamour-magnet, just off Knightsbridge, “has kept its high standards for more than 15 years now” (it opened in 2002, nowadays with spin-offs around the globe). In normal, non-Covid times, the cocktail bar is famously “a bit of a zoo”, but that just adds energy to its “buzzy” (“so noisy!”), “casual and comfortable” overall style; and even if Japanese-fusion cuisine doesn’t today seem like quite the genius-magic it did on opening, the “sublime” dishes here still feel as fresh as a daisy: “wonderous bites” of sushi, black cod and other “supreme” creations.

For 32 years we've been curating reviews of the UK's most notable restaurant. In a typical year, diners submit over 50,000 reviews to create the most authoritative restaurant guide in the UK. Each year, the guide is re-written from scratch based on this survey (although for the 2021 edition, reviews are little changed from 2020 as no survey could run for that year).
