Summary
This “fun, old-style bistro with dishes to match” has been one of the dining bargains of Islington’s main drag for the best part of 40 years. It serves brunch from 10am as well as the standard Gallic brasserie menu for lunch and dinner.
Summary
Jolly, old-school Islington bistro of over 30 years’ standing, known for its low prices and “good value”. Not so many places in town now where you can have Soup, Beef Bourguignon and Apple Cake with Vanilla Ice Cream for £14.50.
Summary
“Bustling” and “lovely” French-style bistro, which has been an Islington institution for almost 30 years, with its crowd-pleasing formula of a keen set price for each of the three courses (£4.95, £11.95 and £3.95 respectively): the food’s not art, but with value like this, nobody cares.

For 32 years we've been curating reviews of the UK's most notable restaurant. In a typical year, diners submit over 50,000 reviews to create the most authoritative restaurant guide in the UK. Each year, the guide is re-written from scratch based on this survey (although for the 2021 edition, reviews are little changed from 2020 as no survey could run for that year).

Le Mercury Restaurant Diner Reviews
"Dinner for 3. It is utterly unique - a prime Upper Street site housing a decent and insanely cheap bistro - I simply don’t grasp how they keep their prices that low. It does mean that it’s all pretty run of the mill in terms of its milieu, but you can’t argue with £25 bottles of highly quaffable French Malbec! Steak was serviceable rather than excellent but the goat’s cheese salad was actually very pleasant. "
"Does what it says on the tin: reasonably well cooked bistro fare, very well priced for the location. The two tier Parisian theatre boxes are a bit of a mad addition to the interior design but great location for a family meal before a show at the Almeida across the road"
