“Great pub dishes executed well above the norm and a very decent wine list” are on the menu at this “lovely old thatched inn on a village green”, re-launched in 2021 by chef Martin Russell and his partner Zoe. “How can you not highly rate any pub that has a traditional suet pudding stuffed with beef bourguignon on the menu?”

This “nice cosy village pub” with a thatched roof and beamed bar serves a “consistently good and interesting menu” of “British classics”. For many years a foodie destination, it changed hands last year and is now run by chef Martin Russell and his partner Zoe, who began her career as a waitress here.

On a high after being named ‘Cambridgeshire Dining pub of the Year 2019’ by the GPB, this attractive thatched inn combines a nicely old-school bar (beams, open fires) and an airier Garden Room with a patio beyond. Reporters praise its “good food and service” – the former from Simon Cadge, who trained at the Old Bridge at Huntingdon (whose owner, John Hoskins, has long retained ties to this pub).

For 32 years we've been curating reviews of the UK's most notable restaurant. In a typical year, diners submit over 50,000 reviews to create the most authoritative restaurant guide in the UK. Each year, the guide is re-written from scratch based on this survey (although for the 2021 edition, reviews are little changed from 2020 as no survey could run for that year).
