Harden's says

Richard Corrigan took over the site of the short-lived Nuala (RIP) with a revival of the name of his first London venture, Mulligan's; it is a “social co-op of like-minded people” based on produce from the chef's Irish farm.

“Simple food and amazing produce served with a smile” is the premise at this Irish restaurant just south of Silicon Roundabout, backed by a team including chef Richard Corrigan, éminence grise of Irish gastronomy in London, and run by his son Richie. The beef is from Peter Hannan in Northern Ireland, and downstairs in the basement there’s an outpost of Gibney’s, a famous pub in Malahide near Dublin.

Just south of Silicon Roundabout, this two-year-old Irish bar/restaurant is backed by a crack team of London’s most famous Irish foodies – chef Richard Corrigan, plus Green & Fortune’s John Nugent and King’s Place owner Peter Millican. Its small plates cooked over open fire are interesting and well-realised – even a reporter who considers the place “expensive” concedes that “otherwise it is very good indeed”.

Summary

The foodie ‘Murphia’ was out in force with this late-2019 yearling, backed by famous chef Richard Corrigan (who first made his name over 20 years ago at a different Mulligan’s, then ‘of Mayfair’), fellow Irishman John Nugent, and King’s Place owner Peter Millican (see Rotunda at King’s Place). On a corner-site just south of the Old Street roundabout vacated by Nuala (RIP), its run by Corrigan’s son, Richie, and features mid-sized seafood and meat plates fired at the open grill, served professionally but unfusilly. There’s also space for drinker on the ground floor (while the basement is a bar proper with regular live music and spoken word gigs).

For 32 years we've been curating reviews of the UK's most notable restaurant. In a typical year, diners submit over 50,000 reviews to create the most authoritative restaurant guide in the UK. Each year, the guide is re-written from scratch based on this survey (although for the 2021 edition, reviews are little changed from 2020 as no survey could run for that year).
