Harden's survey result
Summary
“For an exceptional foodie experience”, this “absolute gem of a restaurant tucked away in a residential area of Hove” is “hard to beat”. Chef Duncan Ray (part of Heston B’s original launch team at the Fat Duck) is “fêted among restaurant owners and foodies” for his “fish-based 8-course menu, which invariably delights” – and has earned increasing recognition in his 10 years here. There are just 20 guests per sitting, and “everyone eats at the same time – like being at a dinner party”. The “good wine list” is from the people behind Noble Rot.
Summary
“Duncan Ray is one of the UK’s best but relatively unsung chefs”, say fans of his “small but perfectly formed” Hove 20-seater. “He continues to put 100% into improving the entire offer, not just the omakase-inspired tasting menu” (fish-centric, and entirely prepared by the aptly named Ray) “which is more sophisticated and delicious than ever, but also refurbished surroundings and a new front-of-house team”.
Summary
“Just off the front in a charming maze of streets in Hove”, Duncan Ray’s small 20-seater is “a cute spot with no fine dining trappings to make you feel awkward”. He is at the stoves alone, creating an ever-changing five-course menu of sustainable seafood: “just gorgeous fish cookery from raw to grilled – not hugely fancy, just brilliantly conceived and executed”.

For 32 years we've been curating reviews of the UK's most notable restaurant. In a typical year, diners submit over 50,000 reviews to create the most authoritative restaurant guide in the UK. Each year, the guide is re-written from scratch based on this survey (although for the 2021 edition, reviews are little changed from 2020 as no survey could run for that year).

The Little Fish Market Restaurant Diner Reviews
"We've always had sublime experiences in the past, this time the food didn't quite live up to expectations, although there were some great dishes. Having said that, we love what LFM does, and it's well worth a visit. Bit noisy when there is a big group in though, I must be getting old!"
"Great seafood, inventive and very tasty wit great service"
