“Exploding any lingering prejudices about Indian food” – this “innovative and beautiful” operation (created in 2004 by Ranjit Mathrani, Namita Panjabi and Camellia Panjabi, who own Chutney Mary et al) “remains a favourite premium destination” for “Indian cuisine at its finest, with a great open kitchen”. “It is pricey, but the food is exceptional, while service is fast and friendly”.

Perhaps “the best and coolest Indian restaurant in London” (if you have deep pockets) – this slick Belgravian provides “beautifully presented, utterly delicious” small plates from its “wonderfully original menu” (fans are “not sure it’s really Indian in a purist sense, but more a top, modern Indian grill on its own terms”). It is “expensive but provides real value”“I’ve rarely tasted such terrific flavours in India, and never in the UK”.

“Cracking Indian fine dining with-a-twist” is to be had at this “congenial” and moodily “cavernous” Belgravia fusion-venture (under the same ownership as Chutney Mary and Veeraswamy). The tapas-style dishes, prepared in an open kitchen over the grill, deliver “vibrant” and “fabulous flavours”, and rank amongst London’s very best. Overall, it’s “a bit expensive”, but a “super, super, super-lovely experience”.

For 32 years we've been curating reviews of the UK's most notable restaurant. In a typical year, diners submit over 50,000 reviews to create the most authoritative restaurant guide in the UK. Each year, the guide is re-written from scratch based on this survey (although for the 2021 edition, reviews are little changed from 2020 as no survey could run for that year).

"Very Knightsbridge in feel, pricing and clientele, but that doesn't stop the food being good, as it should be at the extortionate prices"
